What majors does Williams recruit for?
Williams recruits for business internships from the following majors: finance, economics, accounting, MIS, management, and marketing. For engineering internships the following majors are recruited: chemical, mechanical, civil, electrical, and environmental. Information Technology (IT) interns can study a multitude of majors including management information systems (MIS), math, supply chain/procurement, or other related technical majors.
What do business majors do at Williams?
Business majors have the opportunity to participate in many different departments including accounting, investor relations, human resources, business process improvement, gas marketing, and various others. Many of these roles may include activities around financial concepts, accounting principles, evaluation and implementation of investment and financing opportunities, and compiling and analyzing financial information. Some activities will include research, analysis, summarizing and presenting results, and making recommendations to management.
What do engineering majors do at Williams?
Openings for entry-level engineers offer a wide variety of opportunities. We have positions for field operations, operations support, engineering and construction, and technical services. Field operations may include pipeline and compressor engineering support, including controls and safety systems, pipeline repairs, foreign line crossing, right-of-way maintenance and efficiency requirements. Operations support may include automation and safety systems for compressor stations including PLC based systems and testing and optimizing natural gas fired engines to meet efficiency and emissions requirements. Technical Services may be involved in project management, engineering design, and construction compliance. Other activities may include support optimization, cost reduction, project management, and troubleshooting efforts.
What do Management Information System (MIS) majors do at Williams?
There are many opportunities for MIS, math, supply chain/procurement, or related technical majors at Williams. Most work is done through a team environment, collaborating with others and continuing to grow skills in areas such as application delivery, consulting, application development, project management, IT security, infrastructure, and business analysis.
What do technicians do at Williams?
Technicians may maintain and operate all compressor station equipment and facilities including engine driven reciprocating natural gas compressors and their ancillary equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, filters, instrumentation and controls, etc.) piping, boilers, valves, storage tanks, reciprocating air compressors, auxiliary generator, dehydration, heaters, and more. Also, maintenance and operation on pipeline facilities including valves, piping, right-of-way, and inspection of third party activities, meter stations and regulator stations may be involved. Shift work may be required based on location.
How long are the internships at Williams?
Internships usually last through the summer, or about three months.
What is the timeline of the recruiting process?
Each semester we are on campuses around the country recruiting interns and future graduates. See our calendar to find out when we will be on your campus. We begin recruiting in September for both internships and rotation program positions. Interviews typically take place after the Career Fair, and offers are extended to students usually around October or November. Depending on organizational needs, we may recruit for both opportunities in the spring as well.
Where will my internship be located?
Location depends on the type of position and the specific internship. Internships vary from an office environment, to assignments at our field assets, and sometimes a combination of both. Many interns get to travel to field locations even if they are based out of one of our offices.
Are Williams internships paid?
Yes, all of our internships are paid positions. Every year we assess industry and market standards to determine fair and competitive pay. We also offer assistance in summer housing and help you to get acquainted with the city in which you are interning.
How do I apply for an internship at Williams?
If you are a student at one of our listed schools, please submit your resume through your campus career services website as well as the specified school posting on this site.
If your school is not listed, you can still apply. Simply submit your resume for consideration by going to our job posting website and searching “College.” This will allow you to find positions you may be interested in.
How should I prepare for an on-campus interview?
Review our annual reports, current industry topics, talk to current employees, former interns, and your teachers. Your school’s career services office may also have information to assist you including practice interviews, questions, and advice. Arrive a few minutes early and have a copy of your transcript and resume with you. Business casual dress is appropriate.
Do you hire interns for full time positions after graduation?
Preference is given to our successful interns for full-time positions and returning internships. If an intern has shown to be the right fit for our company and Williams the right fit for them, we are very interested in maintaining that relationship.
Does Williams offer a program where I can learn a variety of different functions within the company?
Our Rotation Programs are a great way to learn about different jobs within the company. Employees in our programs are recent graduates and spend times in various departments, depending on their area of discipline. They include our Engineering Development Program and our Professional Development Program, consisting of a business track and IT track.
What if I am not interested in the Rotation or Intern Programs? Does Williams directly hire new college graduates?
Many of our employees are direct hires. The rotation program and intern program are not the only choices you have. If you are interested in working for Williams as a direct hire, please apply on our job posting website.
